Virtual Learning/COVID-19 School Closure

 

On Friday, November 13, the Montgomery County Board of Health passed an order requiring all schools, both public and private, to support virtual education only for a defined amount of time over the Thanksgiving holiday. It is a preventative measure to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. All NPSD students will begin 100% virtual instruction from home beginning on Monday, November 23 with schools scheduled to reopen to students on Monday, December 7.

 


 

Questions and Answers Regarding Virtual Learning from November 23 to December 4, 2020

 

What are the school schedules?

NPSD will remain on its current schedule used in hybrid learning. This means:

  • All schools remain on their current school hours and schedules.
  • All students will have a two-hour early dismissal on Fridays.
  • Schools are closed for the Thanksgiving holiday Wednesday through Friday, November 25 to 27.

 

What hybrid day will December 12/7 be?

What kind of notice can we give so that students and staff take what they need (technology, books, medicine, instruments, etc.)?
By their last day of in-person instruction this week, students should take home all personal items, books, instruments until they return on 12/7/20.

 

Does the order impact students with an IEP?
Yes, per the order all students will learn virtually from 11/23 to 12/4. View parent FAQ for special education for more information.

 

What will school look like for North Montco Technical Career Center students?
NMTCC will also be 100% virtual from 11/23 to 12/4/2020. Please visit NMTCC's website for more information.

 

Are sports and other extracurricular activities being held?
Per the Montgomery County Board of Health order, no extracurricular activities can be held including sports.

 

Will the SAT on 12/5/20 at NPHS still take place? (NPHS about 130 scheduled right now, 70 students are NPSD)
The SAT on 12/5/20 is cancelled.

 

Will the Keystone Exams be held the first week of January?
No decisions needed at this time. Please stay tuned.

 

Will free meal pick-up continue during virtual learning?
Yes, distribution will continue on Tuesdays. Learn more about free meal pick-up.

 

What is the Chromebook/device distribution schedule for 11/23 -12/4/20?
Chromebook/device distribution will be available by appointment only at North Penn High School (1340 Valley Forge Road, Lansdale, PA) in the bus circle as follows. Make an appointment for device pick-up online now.

  • Monday, 11/23 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm
  • Monday, 11/30 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm
  • Thursday 12/1 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm

What is the Chromebook support schedule for 11/23 -12/4/20?

  • Monday through Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:30 pm
  • Saturday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm
  • Sunday from 12:00 to 8:30 pm

 

Will transportation be provided for placements and private schools and schools outside of Montgomery County?
Yes.

 

During virtual learning if a student is a confirmed COVID-19 case should NPSD be contacted?
